Favorite Makeup Related Products of 2010!

I have always loved makeup and I've made quite the collection in the past few years but 2010 is when I first started purchasing more high-end brands. I've tried lots of products over the year, some I loved some not so much. But this post is about products I've loved in 2010. I will post links down below if you want to purchase any of the items I list.(These products are in no specific order)

Eyes

Too Faced Natural Eye Shadow Pallet - I haven't had this pallet for long but I absolutely love it. It is the perfect pallet for everyday looks and traveling, it contains 9 shadows, 3 matte and 6 shimmer. It has shades ranging from peachy-flesh tones to hazelnut browns. I would recommend this pallet to anyone who is interested in makeup. The price isn't ideal but the silky quality of these shadows make your eyes feel like heaven!

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion - I always used to think it didn't matter whether I used liquid concealer or eye shadow primer but after using Urban Decay's primer potion I will never use concealer again unless its an emergency. It comes in 3 different shades, original which dries clear, Sin (the one i'm currently using) which dries a champagne shimmer that can be used as a highlight and Eden which is a matte nude shade.

Maybelline New York Eye Studio Gel Liner - This gel eye liner is great for making a cat-eye effect. Its 24 hour wear which is great because some gel liners are so creamy they'll smudge easily. This liner also claims its smudge free, it doesn't smudge easy but when you go to wash your face it definitely will smudge, its waterproof as well so you definitely need a good eye make up remover to take this off! It comes in three shades blackest black, brown, and egg plant(which is a plum shade).
Can be purchased in stores such as Shoppers Drugmart and Walmart.

Pigments - I just recently started trying pigments and absolutely love them, I am currently loving M.A.C pigments and Bare Mineral pigments. A pigment is basically just a loose eye shadow that hasn't been pressed into a solid. Pigments are super pigmented and vibrant. The great thing about these is you can press your own eye shadows with them, even mix pigments together to make a whole new shadow! Negative side is, they can get pretty messy.

Cover Girl's Lash Blast Mascara - I don't think I will ever get enough of this mascara, I already have fairly long lashes but Lash Blast does wonders for my eyes and completes every look. I normally apply 3 coats. I constantly get asked if I'm wear false lashes, and now you know my secret.
Can be purchased in stores such as Shoppers Drugmart and Walmart.

Lise Watier's Eye Liners - I discovered Lise Watier this year at Shoppers Drugmart and fell in love with their water proof eye liners, they come in all different colours with corresponding liquid glitter liners. These two together make the perfect everyday look if you want something more fun then your standard black or brown liner. The eye liners are so creamy you can also use them as a colour base for you eye shadows!
Can be purchased in stores such as Shoppers Drugmart

Face

L'oreal's True Match Super-Blendable Makeup - I have very very light skin and it's hard for me to find shades that actually match my skin tone. I frequently try foundations and love them but unfortunately they never completely match my skin tone. I always have to crazily try to blend them in which can become very time consuming. True match is the only foundation I've found that is a perfect match, it also has good coverage and is very buildable which are qualities I look for in a great foundation.
Can be purchased in store such as Shoppers Drugmart and Walmart.

Gosh Face Primer - Like eye shadow primers I never really thought I needed a face primer but they truthfully do make your face products last all day. Gosh Primer gives your face brighter more alive look and is silky to the touch. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality face primer.
Can be purchased in store such as Shoppers Drugmart.

Gosh Giant Sun Powder - This bronzer is definitely giant and its one of the best bronzers i've tried, its perfect for my skin tone. It would also be great for darker skin tones to add a gleaming look to your face because this is a shimmer bronzer. You can also apply this on the body to make your skin look luminous!
Can be purchased in store such as Shoppers Drugmart.

NARS Blush in Orgasm - This is the perfect peachy-pink shade for your cheeks, it also has gold flecks which make your skin shine. NARS blushes are very pigmented and have a silky texture.

Lips
M.A.C's Tinted Lip Conditioner - I'm absolutely addicted to my M.A.C's Tinted Lip Conditioner in Petting Pink. It makes your lips feel super soft with a slight tint of pink. It also has SPF 15 so you lips will be protected from sun damage. I always use this before apply any other lip product whether it be liner, gloss or lipstick.

M.A.C's Satin Lip Stick in Myth - This year I've been obsessed with having nude lips, almost flesh tone, and the adding a coloured gloss for just a small amount of colour. I was a little cautious about buying Myth because it is such a nude colour, but I am happy I purchased this lip stick, its perfect for everyday and goes with any makeup look.

Other
Bath and Body Works Sweet Pea Anti-bacterial Moisturizing Hand Lotion - I am obsessed with having clean hands but hate the alcohol sent of hand sanitizers,I also find they can dry out my hands. This two in one combo is amazing. The sent is to die for, it smells like sugar candies and I am addicted to it. Not only will my hands be clean and smell great but they will also be extremely soft!

New Years Inspired - Smokey Purple

This single shadow smokey purple look is quick and easy and perfect for a New Years party!

The first thing I did was prime my lid with Urban Decay Eye shadow primer potion.

The next thing I used was Lise Watier's Eye shine eyeliner in Purple and put this all over the lid and into the crease. This is going to set a purple base so the eye shadow is more vibrant.

I then used a bright purple shade in my Sephora pallet and swept this all over the lid. After, I took a clean blending brush and blended the colour up into the crease using "wind sheild wiper" motions.

For the last few steps I take the same purple liner I used for a base and lined the lower lash line, I lined my water line and tight line with black liner, curled my lashes and added three coats of Lash Blast mascara. Because its New Years Eve inspired I added Lise Watier's Purple sparkly liquid eye liner on the upper and lower lash line and in the inner corner.

Small Hual/ Mini Review - ft. Forever21

I am going to the Dominican in January and I needed some things to add to my summer wardrobe to make things feel fresh. I didn't get much but the prices add up to a $70 value without a shipping fee. But first I'd like to do an overview of Forever21 with my thoughts about the merchandise, prices and quality. I absolutely adore Forever21 and I would recommend it to pretty much anyone. They offer a wide variety of styles, whether you like your classic graffic tee's, something fancy or more on edge and risk'eh Forever21 is the place to go. They have raised their prices on certain items a fair bit in the past year but overall the prices are fairly cheap and worth the quality. As for quality its not much different than typical stores you find in the mall like (Garage, Boathouse, Stitches etc.) but the wide variety of styles and the large amount of merchandise they have to offer make shopping at Forever21 worth your while.

Now for the interesting part, I only purchased four items but they are worth the price.
The first item is a yellow and white strapless sundress, it was $16.50. This floral print is perfect for my vaykay in the Dominican!

The second item is a flowy tank with a blue-grey and white floral pattern, it has a elastic band at the hip to give the shirt more texture and flow, its perfect for that typical summer day! This tank was $17.80.

The next item I purchased was a pair of classic grey strapped gladiator sandals. These are great for everyday wear but they can also be used for a more dressy look, these were $21.80.

The final item I purchased was a large blue stoned pendant necklace. This necklace adds a rustic look to any outfit and will look great against the yellow and white patterned dress I also purchased, this necklace was only 5.80!

Electric blue

This shimmering blue look is perfect if your looking to spice things up from your daily neutral shades. Its not the ideal everyday look but its great for a night out! This would be the perfect look for new years if you add some winged out liner, false lashes and some glitter.

The first thing I did was prime my lid with Urban Decay Primer Potion to make the shadows last all day. Then I applied Marks shade stick in marina to the lid for a base colour. I used a Cover Girl pallet in 'crystal waters' for all the eye shadow. The first colour I used was the second lightest colour in the pallet, its sort of an aqua-green shade, I applied this in the inner corner and first half of the lid.(do not blend yet) The next shade I used was the second darkest colour in the pallet, it is a light navy blue, I applied this to the middle of the lid. (again not blending, and I am not applying these into the crease.) I then apply the darkest blue shade into the outer half of my lid. For blending I take a clean fluffy brush and carefully blend the noticeable lines (try not to mix the colours together you want a notice able colour difference from light to dark with no noticable lines!) For the highlight colour I applied the lightest shade in the pallet to the brow bone and the inner corner blending out where the blue ends right before the crease.(This will blend it up into the crease a little but it will give your eye some dimension.) For eye liner I used 'cobalt blue', I applied this in the waterline, tight line and lower lash line. For a smoked out effect I used a small eyeliner brush and swept the darkest blue shade over top of the liner on the lower lash line. I topped this off with curling my lashes and some black mascara.

Holiday Inspired - Smokey Greens

This smoked out green look is great for the holiday season, you can also make it more dramatic by adding some winged out liner and some black eye shadow in the outer corner to deepen the look.
The first thing I did was prime my lid with Urban Decay Eye Shadow Potion to make the shadows stick and last all day. I used all the eye shadows from a Sephora holiday eye shadow pallet that was limited edition but I will put a link below to similar ones you can purchase. The first eye shadow I used was a light golden green shade and I applied this with a regular shadow brush all over the lid. I then took a fluffy brush and swept on a creamy-white shade under the brow and in the inner corner of the lid. Using a different fluffy brush I used "windshield wiper" motions to apply a medium forest green shade into the outer corner and up into the crease. For the final shade i used a dense synthetic brush to dab on a dark forest green in the outer corner, I blended this in with the same fluffy brush I used for the medium green shade. After applying the eye shadow I lined my lower lash line with a forest green eyeliner from Cover Girl. I finished off the look by applying basic black liner to the waterline and tight line, curled my lashes and added three coats of Lash Blast mascara.

note *To achieve this look you don't have to use the same products I used, any similar shades will work as well. I highly suggest you invest in a good eyeshadow primer, liquid concealer can also work.*

Every day neutral eye using Too Faced Natural Eye Pallet

Too Faced Natural Eye pallet is a great set of eye shadows you can use for everyday looks. It contains 9 different eye shadows 3 matte and 6 shimmer. In the look above I am using 3 different shades of eye shadow the first one is 'silky teddy' which I swept all over the eyelid, up to the brow and inner corner using a basic eye shadow brush. The next shadow I used was 'Push Up' which I blended from the outer lid into the crease of my eyelid using a domed fluffy brush. The final colour I used is called 'Erotica', I used a dense synthetic brush to dab this in the outer corner. Then I used the same brush with 'Push  Up' on it to blend 'Erotica' out and up into the crease.
